Today’s Dawn Chorus is just for kicks – and to test your bird identification skills. All of the photos in this diary were taken in or near the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, mostly during the month of June (though not all in the same year). Many of these species may be in your area during the winter. Come hang out in the comments to help identify a few Arctic breeding birds.

The next time you run into lineatus, be sure to congratulate her – she’s about to be a published illustrator. The book launch party for Identification Guide to North American Birds, part 2, by Peter Pyle, is next weekend. Look for it so you can check out lineatus’ art work.
